This is a translation for convenience. The German version is the legally binding one.
1. Scope
These General Terms and Conditions apply to all orders between Aareschliff Zumbrunn (hereinafter «the provider») and customers (hereinafter «the customer») within the scope of the knife sharpening service. By placing an order, the customer accepts these terms in full.
2. Services offered
The provider offers professional sharpening of knives and cutting tools. The exact scope of services, the prices and the available service options are listed on the website.
Excluded from the service are hairdressing and hair scissors. These are currently neither accepted nor processed.
The following service options are available:
- Drop-off / collection by the customer: the knives are handed over to the provider in person and collected again once the work is finished.
- Pick-up and delivery service: the provider picks the knives up from the customer and returns them after the work is done. This service requires a minimum order value of CHF 40.00.
3. Orders and booking
Bookings are made through the online booking system on the website (zick.ch widget). A binding order comes into effect with the provider's confirmation email. The customer is obliged to provide correct contact details, pick-up address and preferred appointment.
Knives with a replacement value above CHF 150.00 must be declared when the order is placed. Without such a declaration, the provider's liability is limited to CHF 150.00 per knife.
4. Prices and payment
All prices are final prices in Swiss francs (CHF), including any value added tax.
Payment terms:
- Pick-up and delivery service: payment is made in full in advance during the online booking (credit card or TWINT via Stripe).
- Drop-off by the customer: payment is made either in advance during the online booking (credit card or TWINT via Stripe), or in cash when the sharpened knives are collected.
For card or TWINT payments the transaction is handled by the payment service provider Stripe Inc. Aareschliff Zumbrunn does not store any payment data.
5. Minimum order value
A minimum order value of CHF 40.00 applies to the pick-up and delivery service. Orders below this amount are accepted as a drop-off service only.
6. Appointments and turnaround
Booked appointment slots are binding. The usual turnaround time after receipt of the knives is 0–3 working days, unless agreed otherwise. The provider informs the customer by email as soon as the knives are sharpened.
In case of exceptionally high order volume or knives with substantial damage, the turnaround time may be longer. In that case the customer is informed proactively.
7. Packaging and hand-over
The customer is obliged to hand over the knives safely and puncture-proof packaged, or to provide them for pick-up in that state. Guidance on correct packaging is provided with the booking confirmation. The provider is not liable for damage caused by improper packaging.
When the knives are handed over to the provider, or before work begins, their condition is documented (photo). This documentation serves the protection of both parties.
With the pick-up and delivery service, risk passes to the provider upon physical hand-over and passes back to the customer upon return or delivery.
8. Liability
The provider handles entrusted cutting tools with care. In the event of proven damage caused by the provider, replacement or compensation is provided up to the current value of the affected knife.
There is no liability for:
- Pre-existing damage, cracks or material defects on the knife
- Knives that cannot be sharpened due to their condition
- Any guaranteed repair result for broken or heavily damaged blades
- Damage caused by improper packaging by the customer
For broken or heavily damaged blades the provider currently cannot guarantee a proper repair. The provider will nevertheless try to sharpen such knives where possible, provided this is technically and safely justifiable.
If a knife is assessed as not workable, the customer is informed. No fee is charged and the knife is returned unprocessed.
The provider's total liability per order is limited to the current value of the affected knives, and at most to the order value. The provider is not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
Complaints regarding sharpening quality must be submitted in writing within 7 days of the knives being returned.
9. Cancellation and withdrawal
By the customer:
- Cancellations are free of charge up to 24 hours before the booked appointment.
- For later cancellations or no-shows, a processing fee of CHF 10.00 may be charged.
- Payments already made are refunded in full in the case of a timely cancellation.
By the provider:
- The provider reserves the right to cancel appointments in case of illness, force majeure or other compelling reasons. In such cases alternative appointments are offered and any advance payments are refunded in full.
10. Refunds
Refunds of advance payments are made to the payment method used at booking within 5–10 working days. Stripe Inc. handles the technical processing.
11. Uncollected knives
Knives that are not collected within 30 days of the completion notice are stored at the customer's risk and expense. After 60 days from the notice, the provider reserves the right to charge a storage fee or to dispose of the knives properly.
12. Data protection
The provider collects and processes personal data exclusively for order handling and communication, in accordance with the Swiss Data Protection Act (revDSG). Data is not passed on to third parties, except to the payment service provider (Stripe Inc.) as part of payment processing. Data subjects have the right to information, correction and deletion of their data under the revDSG. The separate privacy policy on the website applies in addition.
13. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction
Swiss law applies exclusively. The place of jurisdiction is Brugg AG, as far as legally permissible.
14. Changes to these terms
The provider reserves the right to amend these terms at any time. The current version is published on the website. For existing orders, the terms in force at the time of booking apply.
